Mid-States Utility Branches Step Up Teamwork and Leadership With Dale Carnegie Training

Lyle Kummer Social MediaBo Heidtbrink Social MediaOur Omaha and Sioux Falls teams are strengthening their teamwork and leadership skills with a 8-week Dale Carnegie training course “Skills For Success”. Mark Golden (Service and Parts Director), Duane Bugge (Parts Manager), Garret Smith (Outside Service Sales), Bo Heidtbrink and Mike Davis (both Outside Parts Sales) from our Omaha branch and Lyle Kummer with Darin Noyes (both Outside Parts Sales) from our Sioux Falls branch have just completed Week 6 of the training course designed over 100 years ago which has become the flagship program for leadership training all around the world. This learn-by-doing based program for individuals was founded in 1912 and is now taught in more than 90 countries. More than 8 million people have completed Dale Carnegie Training. The course is based on a five-phase continuous improvement cycle:

  1. Build greater self-confidence
  2. Strengthen people skills
  3. Enhance communication skills
  4. Develop leadership skills
  5. Improve attitude and reduce stress

Duane says “I really enjoy going to Dale Carnegie. The course really makes you step out of your comfort zone and think about how you can communicate better, for the benefit of the team and our customers. I use the techniques I have learned every day.”

We want to congratulate to all Mark, Duane, Garrett, Bo, Mike, Lyle and Darin as they embrace the opportunity to grow and improve their skills and performance as leaders in order to build positive, accountable and forward-thinking workplace. Special congratulations go to Lyle for winning the Outstanding Performance Award and to Bo for winning the Crashing Through Award, both at Session 4 of the course. Great work, gentlemen!
