An event that celebrates the “rebirth” of the Missouri River, which flows through Sioux City, IA, after it was re-channeled. The parade also heralds the rest of the River-Cade activities and events such as fishing derbies, golf tournaments, car shows, live concerts and much more.

The parade took place in downtown Sioux City, a different location than its typical route, the parade was moved due to construction. The new route went down 3rd street and came alongside the Long Lines Family Rec Center which hosted an ice cream social immediately following the parade.

Many organizations were represented during the parade. Anything from local companies to non-profit organizations each with their own floats and typically a giveaway of some kind for those who came to watch the precession. The Mid-States Utility Trailers float involved a Featherlite trailer pulled by a company truck featuring our logo. The trailer had a custom printed banner on both sides advertising our Sioux City branch location.

The volunteers from the Sioux City branch threw candy out to the audience. It was estimated that they gave out close to 100lbs of candy that day as they walked the mile from the parade’s start to finish. Even though temperatures were into the 90s, that didn’t stop them from getting out and having a great time at the event.

A huge thank you goes out to those who participated in the 56th annual River-Cade Parade, as well as to those who organized the event and worked hard to ensure its success.
