20th Mid-States Utility Employee Graduates From Dale Carnegie “Skills For Success” Course
Our employees continue to take themselves outside their comfort zone to gain new skills and knowledge in our fast-moving industry. Last week our 20th Mid-States Utility employee graduated from the legendary “Skills For Success” Dale Carnegie course! Travis Bohl, our Inside Parts Sales Representative thoroughly enjoyed the training. He said: “It wasn’t what I expected! The course was interactive and fun. I really enjoyed it. I learned how to deal with stressful situations, how to resolve conflict positively and how to develop as a team leader. My wife and my children came for my graduation. They were really supportive of me throughout the course and very happy for me when I received my Break Through Award at Week Seven of the course. My family means everything to me so it was great to have them there for my graduation.”
The course tutor, Steve Begeron, told us: “Travis took the bull by the horns throughout the Dale Carnegie Skills for Success Program. He was a proactive participant each week and finished the program with perfect attendance. During the eight weeks, the focus for Travis was to embrace growth opportunities by leveraging his strengths to improve in several areas. Those areas included the use of strong people skills to tap into the knowledge of others, communicating with openness and clarity to keep others informed, and to demonstrate leadership by sharing his ideas for solving problems. Travis was recognized in Session Seven by his fellow participants by receiving the Break Through Award for inspiring and motivating others.”
Mark Golden, the Operations Manager for our Omaha branch said: ““Travis is a great team player and a go-to person for many of our customers. I am really proud of him for completing the Skills For Success course. It takes some courage to immerse yourself into it, be yourself and learn how to be an effective and confident communicator. Travis excelled throughout this course and was quick to apply his newly acquired skills at work. I could not be more proud of him.”
The Dale Carnegie Course is an effective communication training course that helps our employees master the human relation skills demanded in today’s tough business environment. Our HR team attend annual SHRM (Society for Human Resource) conferences and learn about the latest developments in the ever-evolving HR field. Our marketing team participate in AMA (American Marketing Association) events and workshops to learn about the latest cutting-edge marketing trends and tactics. Our aftermarket parts teams attend regular training organized by our partner vendors in order to learn about new products available for our customers. Our trailer sales team keep their product knowledge fresh with regular training sessions from our manufacturers.
